Multidisciplinary Team

The Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) is responsible for coordinating responses to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation (DHR) cases, as well as other campus concerns requiring cross-departmental collaboration. The MDT focuses on case management, ensuring compliance with policies, and facilitating proactive prevention and response efforts.

While the MDT collaborates with the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)/Threat Assessment Team (TAT), it is not responsible for conducting behavioral assessments. Instead, the MDT supports BIT by gathering relevant data and assisting in executing behavioral intervention strategies. The BIT, as a separate entity, is tasked with evaluating potential threats and determining appropriate interventions to mitigate risks.

  • Meeting Schedule: The MDT meets every Tuesday to review cases, coordinate response efforts, and ensure a unified approach to managing campus concerns. Members participate based on their roles and expertise to ensure timely and effective case handling.

 

Team Structure

The MDT consists of three key groups: Core Conveners, Inner Team, and External Team. Each group has specific responsibilities in case management, compliance, and resource coordination.

Core Conveners are the primary decision-makers who lead MDT meetings and ensure that institutional responses to reported incidents are timely, compliant, and well-coordinated. They play a central role in managing cases and supporting campus-wide prevention efforts.

Core Conveners:

  • Office of Compliance and Civil Rights: Anne Githae, AVP of Compliance and Civil Rights
  • Police Department: Anthony Martinez, Chief of Police & Ruben Madrigal, Lieutenant
  • Housing: Erin Boele, Director of Housing
  • Student Affairs: Terre Stevenson, Dean of Students
  • Counseling Services: Etisha Wilbon, Director of Counseling and Psychological Services

The Inner Team includes key personnel who engage in cases where they have direct knowledge or a role in campus interventions.

Inner Team Members:

  • University Counsel
  • Student Conduct
  • HR AVP
  • FA AVP
  • SSD Director

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in MDT meetings when they have direct information about a case
  • Provide expertise to support compliance with policies and ensure appropriate campus responses
  • Assist in developing intervention strategies and resources for individuals involved in cases

The External Team consists of campus partners and specialists who are consulted as needed based on the specifics of a case. Their input is essential for cases requiring academic, legal, or administrative expertise beyond the Core Conveners and Inner Team.

External Team Members may include:

  • Communications and Marketing
  • Academic Advising
  • Registrar
  • Academic Leadership
  • Chancellor’s Office Designees

Responsibilities:

  • Provide case-specific expertise and recommendations
  • Assist in streamlining resources and services for individuals involved in cases
  • Offer guidance on institutional policies and external compliance requirements

How the MDT Functions

While the MDT does not conduct behavioral assessments, it plays a critical role in gathering and organizing data to support the BIT’s interventions. By integrating compliance efforts, case management, and cross-departmental collaboration, the university ensures that concerns related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and behavioral interventions are handled efficiently and comprehensively.
